"Taylor-made" for Canton

The complete uniform worn by Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor arrived at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Taylor was named the Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year this season. He fueled the Dolphins defensive efforts in 2006 as he contributed 62 tackles, 13.5 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, and intercepted two passes which he returned for touchdowns.

Taylor, who played his college football at the University of Akron which is located less than 30 minutes north of the Hall of Fame, also tied a long-standing NFL mark by a defensive lineman. His two interception returns for scores brought his career touchdown total to seven. That matches George Martin for the most TDs by a defensive lineman since 1970, the year of the AFL-NFL merger.

The helmet, jersey, pants, gloves, socks, and shoes that Taylor donated to the Hall of Fame were the ones he wore during the Dolphins win over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day. In addition, his shoulder pads from the 2005 season were included with the other artifacts. Taylor had 77 tackles and 12 sacks in '05. Taylor will wear the shoulder pads from this past season in the upcoming Pro Bowl, the fifth Pro Bowl berth of his career.
