Witten’s milestone

The Dallas Cowboys Jason Witten reached the 600-catch mark of his career faster than any tight end in the history of the National Football League. He hauled in the milestone reception in his 125th career game. Witten had 10 catches for 140 yards and a TD in the 33-30 win over the Washington Redskins on Dec. 19, 2010. The football he caught and the jersey he wore on the play arrived at the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Tuesday.

Witten is just the fourth tight end ever to amass 600 career catches. He is joined Tony Gonzalez, Shannon Sharpe, and Ozzie Newsome in the elite group. Each of those three tight ends has memorabilia from various record-setting moments already in the Hall of Fame's collection.

"It's humbling for sure. To see the guys who are on that list. You try to stay humble when you look at that list and obviously, it's a terrific accomplishment," shared Witten after reaching the milestone in Week 15 of the 2010 NFL season. "I have a lot of great people around me. A lot of great quarterbacks, running backs, a lot of good (offensive) lines and I'm very fortunate to be able to do it because those are three great tight ends on that list that are really special. Hopefully, there is more to come still though."

The jersey and football will be placed on exhibit in the Hall's Pro Football Today Gallery.
