Payton, Brazile and Slater; Oh, My!
Scott Pioli, a longtime executive in the National Football League with a history of building championship football teams, is using his platform on NFL.com and “Good Morning Football” to recall special teams and players from bygone eras. Of particular interest will be those with ties to Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
On Tuesday, Pioli turned back the clock to 1974 to highlight a Jackson State Tigers team that would send six players to the NFL, with three making it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton: Walter Payton, Robert Brazile and Jackie Slater.
